team visiting on Island in the next few months. The focus
will be to use a multi-beam instrument to map along the coastal

Gary Chock visit summary and outcome
Gary Chock is a structural engineer that visited October
13-17th. He is part of a team trying to create SDART (Storm
Damage Assessment and Reporting Tool) for American Samoa.
SDART will specifically look at wind damage and potential
of structures vulnerability to damage. Several meetings and
site visits occurred during the week, and many agencies made
resources available to Gary. The site visits and meetings
aided Gary in the development of a predicted damage curve
for residential structures on Tutuila. A formal write-up is
to be submitted by Gary before the end of the year to NOAA
PSC. Other products are a buildings layer that was created
for Gary’s visit. The buildings layer is based on 2001
IKONOS imagery and was heads-up digitized. An In-brief and
out-brief are available through contacting Troy.

the training program. 32 people screened for the training
program during the week at the ASCC Information Technology
computer lab. The next step will be to select 20 in the screening

be taught in March/April. Of the 20 people, 5 will be selected
for a trip to Palau in August/September to attend GIS training.

the Territory of American Samoa. The FIRMS will be available
for puplic review in ~5 months. Map review: Vicki and Troy
